ISTE NETS*C Standard 3.6 - collaborate with teachers and administrators to select and evaluate digital tools and resources that enhance teaching and learning and are compatible with the school technology infrastructure
Check out the videos below to explore the meaning of Web 2. 0 and Open Source Software.
To explore Web 2.0 tools collaboratively, other elementary teachers in this class worked together to analyze and delve into the Web 2.0 tool Popplet and its potential uses in an elementary classroom. As a group, we worked collaboratively to explore evaluations and reviews of this tool. We also found several different websites that outline potential uses for Popplet in elementary classrooms. We also all shared a sample Popplet that we have used in our classrooms. Check out our project below!
As part of this class, we also explored different ways to use problem based/inquiry instruction using the Internet to promte student discovery. We learned to develop essential questions using Bloom's taxonomy to drive students through the inquiry proces. you can learn more about Bloom's taxonomy at the following website. www.techlearning.com/news/0002/bloom39s-taxonomy-blooms-digitally/65603. Below, you will find a lesson plan that I created that utilizes inquiry based learning and the Internet as well as a couple Web 2.0 tools. Students will discover the different unbalanced and balanced forces that act upon a roller coaster in motion. At the end of the inqiry, students will create roller coasters to test their solutions in collaborative groups. They will post videos of their rollercoasters on this website http://rollercoasterinquiry.weebly.com/.
